House of Ruth
Founded in 1976, House of Ruth helps women, children and families in greatest need and with the fewest resources build safe, stable lives and achieve their highest potential. At House of Ruth, we are ending homelessness and life-long abuse.
The women are dealing with many challenging issues: poverty, homelessness, domestic violence and, often, a history of mental illness and/or addiction. The children typically have developmental delays and emotional and behavioral problems.
Despite all these challenges, the women and children have not given up. They are resilient, courageous and determined to improve their lives.
Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence
The Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence (MNADV) is the state domestic violence coalition that brings together victim service providers, allied professionals, and concerned individuals for the common purpose of reducing intimate partner and family violence and its harmful effects on our citizens.
The Network accomplishes this goal by providing education, training, resources, and advocacy to advance victim safety and abuser accountability.
Develop Your Safety Plan
"Safety planning is just what it sounds like: creating a plan to keep yourself and any children and/or pets safe while living in an environment of domestic violence and abuse, preparing to leave, leaving, and after leaving an abuser. A survivor's safety and well-being is most at risk during episodes of violence and when attempting to leave an abuser, so it's especially important to prepare ahead of time to be as protected as possible. Below are some basic guidelines for safety planning in a DV situation, as well as downloadable versions of our personalized safety planning packet, in both English and Spanish."
Help to empower women and girls.
We support the work of Serenity Door, who "invest in the success of women that have been vicimized by abuse, through self-esteem building workshops, domestic abuse advocacy, and emergency & transitional housing referals. Our ultimate aim is to uplift, improve, restore, and ignite the flames of creative vision and social independence that results in professional success for women."

When developing a healthy model for K.E.YS. to execute on its mission effectively, the executive staff believed it was best to take an alternate route to mental health intervention and advocacy. Rather than having our families suffer through the transportation problems that only make the effort to interface with practitioners more difficult K.E.Y.S. builds stakeholder relationships with our B.U.I.L.D. program.
